PMW Dynamics Motor Selected for Intergalactic Cooling & Thermal Management System in Eve Air Mobility eVTOL

PMW Dynamics has partnered with Intergalactic, a provider of aerospace thermal management systems, to supply a bespoke electric motor for the cooling & thermal management system used in Eve Air Mobility’s electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

In electric aviation, system weight plays a critical role in aircraft efficiency and performance. The motor developed by PMW Dynamics was engineered specifically to support Intergalactic’s cooling solution, balancing compact size with the power and reliability requirements of advanced aerospace systems.

“As we continue the development of our eVTOL thermal management system, integrating lightweight, reliable technologies into every aspect of our system is paramount,” said Nick Kaiser, CTO at Intergalactic. “The motor inside our cooling system is a key part of ensuring our aircraft operates efficiently under all conditions. It must meet the highest standards of reliability, durability, and energy efficiency, optimizing both the thermal management system and overall aircraft performance.”

The motor is designed using aerospace-grade materials and delivers temperature control for components such as batteries, avionics, and other electronic systems. It was built to operate within a 900V DC bus architecture, aligning with the electrical requirements of the Eve platform.

Tailored Engineering for a High-Voltage Environment

Unlike off-the-shelf alternatives, the motor was designed from the ground up by PMW Dynamics in collaboration with Intergalactic. Each design element - from the windings to the enclosure, was specified to meet the thermal, structural, and electrical constraints of the application.

This project reflects PMW Dynamics’ broader approach to motor development: collaborating directly with customers to engineer custom solutions for complex technical challenges.

Supporting System-Level Performance

The cooling system powered by the PMW motor provides thermal regulation for multiple onboard systems, contributing to both passenger comfort and electronic reliability. Given the distributed propulsion and energy demands of Eve’s lift + cruise architecture, effective cooling is a critical element in maintaining system stability and supporting certification efforts.

Eve Air Mobility’s eVTOL aircraft features eight vertical lift rotors and fixed wings for forward flight, with dual pusher motors to enhance redundancy. PMW’s motor integrates into this architecture by enabling thermal management performance while minimizing impact on overall weight and energy consumption.

As Eve Air Mobility moves toward prototype testing and future service entry, the collaboration between Intergalactic and PMW Dynamics demonstrates how specialised component development supports emerging electric aviation platforms.
